We are beginning to study NZ Native Birds. To begin our study we took a trip to Natureland to look at the birds there. Imogen spoke to us about birds and showed us around Natureland. She explained to us how we can tell if something is a bird or an animal. Did you know that there is only 1 thing that makes a bird a bird? The FEATHERS! Animals are things that move around and need to eat.
We were lucky enough to be at Natureland for the feeding of the otters and the monkeys. They are not birds, but we had a lot of fun watching them being fed!

Rabbit Island
Wow! What a fabulous day!
On Friday 27th February the whole school headed off for a day of fun and games at Rabbit Island. We were very lucky to get a fine day, and the rain held off so we could enjoy our day of fun.
We arrived in a convoy of buses and had morning tea together.
Then began a busy morning of swimming, sand castles and walks through the bush. Some amazing sand sculptures were created!
In the afternoon we were able to use a variety of sporting equipment. The Earthball was a great hit! It was a huge blow-up ball that sometimes had a mind of its own!
